Re-defining the re-defined.
Everyone knows brick-breaking games. For those who don’t, I’ll recap: Once upon a time there was breakout. Then dozens of games followed that were basically the same game. Some with a few tweaks, some just plain bad. There were so many rip-offs that it pretty much became its own sub-genre.
Then came Arkanoid. It was transformative to the brick-breaking sub-genre. It essentially reinvented the sub-genre.
What followed was what felt like a million different clones, rip-offs and Arkanoid-inspired titles. There were some bright spots in all of that, but nothing did what Arkanoid did… until Shattered. From the richness of the environment to innovative power-ups and controls, to the surprisingly enjoyable soundtrack, this game is just absolutely fantastic.
Got $5? Don’t throw it away on a Skinny Venti Vanilla Latte. Buy this game. You’ll thank me later.
